Field processing of seismic data
Geophysical data goes through a full cycle of standard and detailed processing of seismic data. Field seismic data is processed in specialist laboratories and centers equipped with computing workstations and high-performance servers.
Field computer centers are used to correct process flow if offspec data is obtained. Use of field computer center for further processing and interpretation of seismic data is the key to obtaining high-quality raw seismic records.
Field quality control of seismic acquisition is conducted at all stages:
- Quality control of topographic and geodetic works (accuracy of georeferencing and installation of source and receiver points, quality of preparation of seismic lines);
- Quality control of seismic source (positioning accuracy, explosive depth, shothole plugging quality, explosion efficiency);
- Quality control of recording system (location of receiving array and recording equipment);
- Quality control of raw seismic records;
- Pre-processing of data using field computer center;
- All records are collected in a single field database and used for further processing.
Field processing of seismic data includes the following processing operations
(finally processing sequence will be defined after pilot works):
- Conversion to internal format;
- Input of geometry;
- Control of geometry;
- Editing of defective traces;
- Recovery of amplitudes;
- Application of static corrections;
- Corrective filtering;
- CDP stacking;
- Velocity analysis;
- Revision of static corrections;
- Stacking;
- Band-pass filtering;
- Print-out of seismic sections.
